WAR Grab Bag: Night of Murder

This week's Warhammer Online Grab Bag features a plethora of questions about the Night of Murder event that is now live on all servers. Find out everything that's fit to know about the Night of Murder below:

Q. Will you be able to do unlocks from previous days, or will you have to log on every day?

A. All of the challenges will be unlocked starting on day 1 and remain that way through the end of the event.

Q. Will players who are "Marked for Death" get any sort of benefits, like a stat buff?

A. No - Part of the event is not knowing when you are marked, so having any sort of benefit would defeat that.

Q. How do you receive credit for killing those Marked for Death? Will it be party wide, killing blow, etc?

A. You'll receive credit just like with any other quest - the group that tags the target first will get the credit. However, with Keep Lords (all keep lords are marked) everyone contributing to the fight will get credit.

Q. Do people have a choice to be marked for death?

A. You'll have a low chance of being marked if you accept the Marked for Death Quest offered in every scenario, warcamp, and capital city. Otherwise, there's no other way to become marked.

Q. Once you are marked and die, will the mark be removed and/or transferred to another person?

A. If you are marked and you die, the mark will be removed.

Q. Do you get anything special for surviving once you are marked?

A. That's a terrific idea and one I'm going to steal for next year!

Q. Will there be any PvE components, or will all influence be derived from the 'kill those marked for death' mechanic? Also, will Witch Elves/Disciples have any unique role in this event.

A. The Marked for Death quest simply states for you to kill marked targets. Marked targets can be enemy players, PQ bosses, Keep Lords, or assassins in the capital city. Also, many of the challenges are PvE related. This event is similar to the Dwarf holiday Keg End in that it is celebrated in one form or another by everyone.

Q. Will this event be spread to all tiers and all zones?

A. All tiers, all zones!

Q. How many marks will be around at any given moment?

A. Roughly speaking, 2 out of every 10 players will be marked at a time. That can change depending on certain random variables, the ability of a group of players to stay alive for extended periods of time, and the density of players involved.

Q. Can you make sure the sign goes invisible when we go stealth?

A. You'd be a pretty sorry Assassin if the Mark gave you away! The effect disappears while you're hiding.

Q. When you leave an RvR zone, is the sign given to someone else to keep the minimum number of marked people up?

A. The mark is completely independent of your individual actions. So you don't have to worry about all of the marked players suddenly leaving the RvR lake and there being no Marks.

Q. In the Night of Murder event, will you be able to kill players of your own realm if they're "Marked for Death?"

A. While WAR is everywhere, it's still a RvR game meaning you can kill the enemy realm, but not your own.

Q. What are the stats/etc of the influence items?

A. The basic reward is am item that grants a title. The Advanced is a cool, unique trophy tailored specifically for the Night of Murder. The Elite is the level 35 Gem of Fell Whispers which goes in one of your trinket slots. There are stats for each archetype (ranged, melee, etc) and there are 4 variations with different bonuses. Bah, more jewelry you say? Yes, but do you have a trinket item that has +5% Renown on it? You will after you've done all of your wet work during the Night of Murder!

Q. Why it is not called St. Valentine's Day? Will there be events mirroring Orthodox Christian church (Russian/Slavic) or Russian holiday events (even if minor fun stuff)?

A. Because this is Warhammer, baby! The Night of Murder coincides with our own real world holiday, but the similarities end there. Ok, ok, so we do have one similar item in that you can send a valentine to an enemy player... but only in true Warhammer style! When you kill a player on the battlefield during the Night of Murder event, you'll have a chance to retrieve their skull which can then be easily mailed back to the fallen player with a pre-scripted message. Check the forums for your target's responses!

Q. "Assassins infiltrate the cities" Does that mean we might start seeing npcs that are of the Assassin class?!?

A. Could this be a hint of what's to come? I'll answer that with a definite... no comment. What you need to know about these Assassins is that there's a daily challenge to kill marked targets and some of those marked targets are hunting in YOUR city. Are you going to stand for that? They're disguised, so be on your guard.

Q. How does one go about getting "Marked for Death" and are there rewards for surviving or protecting those who are marked?

A. There are quests in every war camp, Capital city, and in every scenario. Take the quest, kill every enemy in sight, especially those with the signature Night of Murder Skull and Cross Bones over their head, and earn influence for the event. You won't know if you're marked or if one of your allies is marked, so play as normal and keep each other safe!

Q. Will any of the "Special Event" info ever be included/trackable in the ToK beyond the event itself?

A. Absolutely. Turn to your achievements section and you'll notice a new Live Events section specifically made for achievements earned during these special events.

Q. Are the daily tasks going to be focused more on PVP or PVE? If there is PVE will it occur in the RvR lake so action is not diverted away from the focus of the game? Will the daily tasks be simple enough to not divert people away from the War for too long?

A. There's a combination of PvE and RvR related tasks. For some, you'll be able to choose between the two. For example, the quest to kill marked targets applies to ANY marked targets be they enemy players or monsters. The short answer is: you'll be able to complete the event one way or another doing exactly what you what you like to do. If you want to complete ALL of the challenges, you'll need to experience PvP and PvE.

Q. Will there be any new Public Quests associated with this event similar to the Witching Night PQ?

A. Each event is different and unique to the others - for this event it's about Assassinating marked targets, and sheer survival.

I must admit...this sounds like a BLAST! Be sure to report back on your experiences if you are MARKED FOR DEATH! *g*
