I released private information about Turbine in late October of last year. This information, among other things, included the names and contact information of testers on a private server. Since then, they have been harassed in-game and through e-mail, for doing no more than trying to improve a game they love.

I was wrong to release the information I did. In doing so, I harmed a company I have tried to help over the years and punished people I consider friends, for doing absolutely nothing wrong. To anyone who has enjoyed Asheron's Call these last few years, we are indebted to them. They are great players, who continue to assist Turbine in making a wonderful game even better. It was never my intention to undermine their achievements by releasing the information I did. I am sorry to them, and to Turbine.

I surmise it might've been for having inside information about quests and walkthroughs for various aspects of the game that no one else does, for having an unfair advantage versus the players and the game content, or for 'working' for Turbine.

Naturally, most of the accusations weren't founded on any real fact or substance -- but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to the blind and uneducated masses.

Probably. There was a similar thing for AC2, and testers in that program were constantly bugged on patch day.
