INTRODUCTION

This quest is related to the Dereth Map Quest, so it is worth looking at both at the same time.

Preparation

Do you want one of the coolest housing items in the game? Well, you came to the right place!
The Arcane Pedestal is, a red pedestal with a rotating top, appropriate for your living room or by your door. Here are some items you will want from other quests before you begin this one:

Directions

The rumour is sold by the barkeep in Tou-Tou "Rumor of an Artifact", which reads:

Rumor of an Artifact- A friend of mine came across a man in a small cottage northwest of the West Lytelthorpe Outpost. He said his name is Slithe Tradittor and claims to be an Explorer for the Explorer Society. He expounded upon a tale of discovering an unusual locale which harbors a strange device. This device is apparently an artifact of Empyrean technology. This Explorer hungers to obtain this device and study it.

Now you have to make your way to Lytlethorpe. The quickest way to get here would be by getting yourself to Rithwic, through the subway. Then head to (9.5N, 60.0E) to the portal. (3.9N, 44.8E) is your final destination for Slithe Tradittor. Once you make it to his beautiful cottage, make your way inside.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "There is an artifact in a place unlike any that exists in Dereth."

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "I shall give you a copy of my notes and an Imaging Crystal. The notes show you the way to that place. The Imaging Crystal can be imprinted with the composition and design of this device. Return to me with the imprint embedded within the Crystal and I will study it and determine how to create it."

Slithe Tradittor's Notes: It was in the desert that I saw it. Due North of the Midsong Festival Stone. Due south of the Recovered Temple Dungeon. Southwest of Al-Jalima. I had climbed a steep escarpment and walked along the edge of the cliff. I saw the glow of a portal and as I drew near I saw the hanging bridge suspended out into nothingness. I do not know where in Dereth the portal placed me. Go ever upward! The artifact is at the highest point. Remember to use the Imaging Crystal on the artifact.

It states that you must head to Al-Jalima, and find a portal upon a high cliff. Simple enough! Just head to Arwic via the Subway, and the portal to get there is dead ahead. Any level 30+ should easily handle the mobs you will encounter on this run, all very noobish enemies. Once in Al-Jalima, head to the Festival Stone at (0.2S, 0.3W).

Your final destination here is the Precarious Sojourn portal (2.3N, 0.8W), which you can get to by heading directly north. You can see a huge cliff from where you are standing, but the tricky part it to get atop it. Just walk around the cliff, you should soon find a ramp to climb on top. You will have already seen the portal on your radar by this time.

I recommend walking up slowly to the portal, rather than running right on through. I tried running through it, and due to lag, I just landed on the ground below, and had to make the trek back up top. That's lag for you! So I would Shift-Walk up to it, then just double click it to be safe.

Regardless of your level, I recommend buffing at this point, especially if you are solo. If you are over level 100, you can probably take these mobs unbuffed, but better safe than sorry.

The monsters you will encounter are Warrior of the Blood (Level 60), Warlock of the Blood (Level 80), Champion of the Blood (Level 79) and various Frost/Fire elementals which are all level 60 or below.

Your goal here is to get on the absolute top of the "contraption", which has a HUGE Arcane Pedestal. So follow along the somewhat obvious path, until you hit a split in the road. You have the option to head straight, or turn right. I have found it to be quicker to get up top by going straight. You are almost there!

Once you get near the tower, you must make a baby jump across to it. Be careful with this, If you jump to hard, you may slide right off the whole thing, and make the run all the way back, which is very time consuming. You should be fine with Shift-Jump, just don't do it full power.. in case!

Once you are safe, start walking up the tower. Near to the top, you will come across a door with Alatar Locke inside. Pass it, continue upwards.

Your goal now is to use your Imaging Crystal on Artifact atop the tower. There are 3 undead on top, so be careful if you need to be, hehe. Once you defeat those monsters, use the Crystal on the Artifact. Once you are done that, it is safe to scoot!

Head back to Slithe! Remember: Subway, then Rithwic, then head to (9.5N, 60.0E) to Lytlethorpe. Then run to (3.9N, 44.8E) to find Slithe once again.

You give Slithe Tradittor Imaging Crystal- Arcane Pedestal imprinted.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "Thus far I can only say for certain that a Gelidite Dais is required for me to build this device. Once I have all the components, I should be able to build a scaled down version of the Arcane Pedestal. Go get one now and bring it to me. One may be found in the Gelidite Library."

If you do not have a Dias at this point, which you should.. I warned you! Head to the Gelidite Library, and head through the dungeon until you reach the Dias. It's not that hard to get to, but the whole map can be had here.

Return to Slithe once again, and he will tell you:

You give Slithe Tradittor Gelidite Dais.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "They are the same parts which are within the living bronze statues. Here is a list of the components. Bring them to me and I will construct this device. Remember, tell no one of this."

Hmph.. he has his nerve! Reading the parts list, you find you need:

A Bronze Gear from a bronze Reedshark Statue - Mannikin Foundry
A Bronze Coil from a bronze Sclavus Statue - Effigy Foundry
A Bronze Spring from a bronze Skeleton Statue - Mammet Foundry

You may already have these, if you heeded my warning once again at the beginning, hehe. If you didn't, check out the walkthrough to get these pieces here. Remember, you can go to the dungeons that drop the items, but in order for Slithe to accept them, you need to get the item off the EXACT creature he specifies. Once you have these items, hand them to Slithe.

You give Slithe Tradittor Bronze Gear from a Statue.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "You have the Gear."

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "Where is the Coil?"

You give Slithe Tradittor Bronze Coil from a Statue.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "You have found the Coil."

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "The Spring is still required."

You give Slithe Tradittor Bronze Spring from a Statue.

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "You have obtained the Spring."

Slithe Tradittor quickly constructs an Arcane Pedestal!

Slithe Tradittor tells you, "This device appears to do nothing. I suppose you want your version. Here it is. Do not speak of this to others. Be gone."

Slithe Tradittor gives you Arcane Pedestal.

Slithe Tradittor mutters to himself about now being to make many more for his master.

Great job! You now have the Arcane Pedestal in hand! Now get to your house and spice it up with your new item!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE (Return to Top)

1) Speak to Slithe Tradittor in Lytelthorpe at 3.9N, 44.8E.

2) Go to Al-Jalima, head to the Precarious Sojourn portal (2.3N, 0.8W).

3) Fight your way up the catwalks to the top of the tower.

4) Use your Imaging Crystal on Artifact atop the tower.

5) Give it to Slithe Tradittor in Lytelthorpe at 3.9N, 44.8E.
