The Basalt Blade is an unsual Unarmed Weapon. Made of broken shale from the rare Basalt Golem, in its interior you can see the fiery flame of the Golem. Basalt Golems never travel alone. Be prepared to fight 2-5 Obisidian Golems. Both types of golems will require bludgeon protections from both physical and magical attacks. And expect to spend time hunting. The Basalt Golem will not give up a piece of himself easily and you may have to kill many before finding your prize.

Golems, as a rule, are most susceptible bludgeon attacks with acid and slash as secondary. They've a decent magic defense in the mid-200's range. If you plan on vulning them, expect a resist or two. Otherwise, wade in and pound them as quickly as possible.

To find the Basalt Golem, you should search the Esper Mountain region northeast of Mt Esper, the crater containing Crater Village. They range from 84.0n, 23.0e to approximately 66.0n, 30.0e and are in the Level 40-60 hunting grounds. They can often be recognized by their unique coloring - they are a deep rich brown rather than their black cousins.
