Walkthrough
Minor Smoldering Stone
The lore for this item (Gharu`ndim Rumor) can be purchased from Jizal al-Nurla the Scribe in Zaikhal. It reads as follows:
Yesterday an adventurer brought me a tale of a strange grotto in the Faranar Hills, around 30 degrees east, and a bit south of Samsur. In this grotto reside several of the elusive Fire Elementals, said to be star-spawned creatures which retreated underground after a great cataclysm. They now seem to guard a strange red stone. None know what this stone may be, as all who have attempted to retrieve have been blistered by the fireballs of the Elementals.
Well! These directions are a bit vague (assuming you don`t know where the Faranar Hills are). The Minor Smoldering Stone can be found in the Fiery Cave, which is located in the center of a triangle formed by the cities of Samsur, Uziz, and Yanshi. The shortest route appears to be from Uziz; however, this town it not easily accessed via portal routes or through the "subway" (the Arwic Abandoned Mines). [Yes, we know, there is a portal to Uziz in Ayan Baqur;
however, AB is not easy to get to either! - Ed.] Instead, begin your journey in Yanshi, head southwest out of town down the road until you come to the Broken Sword Cottages at (16.8S, 36.9E). At this point, head northwest into the desert. The Firey Cave is a short run and located at (15S, 31.2E).
A possibly faster route is to purchase a Lytelthorpe gem from a starter town vendor. In Lytelthorpe, you will find a Haven Residential Halls portal. Inside is a portal to Usiz. In Usiz, run to the Vulture`s Eye Villas Portal at 24.8S 29.6E, then run from there to the Fiery Cave (15.0S 31.2E).
Upon arrival you will find a small cave with several Level 53 Gouts (fire elementals) nearby and some inside the cave. As the cave entrance faces south, approach from the north and dispatch the Gouts outside the cave first. (Use a frost weapon to dispatch them if possible.) Once you have eliminated the Gouts, go inside the cave and pick up the Minor Smoldering Stone inside.
Minor Sparking Stone
Te Ketnan in Mayoi has the following rumor for sale:
I`ve heard tell of a strange purple stone in a cave south of Lin and west of Mayoi. It`s guarded by nasty zefirs. There`s also a book there, but no one I know has actually braved the zefirs to see what it`s all about. If you want to try your luck, head northeast from the West Mayoi Mountain Villas
Head for the Zefir Cave, at 59.9S, 75.5E. This underground cavern is close to the town of Mayoi and the quickest route, as the rumor suggests, is to take the West Mayoi Mountain Villas Portal at 60.8S, 80.3E. From here, it is but a short run North East to the Zefir Cave.
The entrance and cavern is guarded by a handful of level 53 Sufut Zefirs. Bludgeon attacks work best; cold and acid elemental attacks are a good alternative. Suggestion: Don`t just run in! Find a way to take them out one at a time. Inside you`ll find the Minor Sparking Stone and a Hastily Scrawled Note. This may be translated by Bretself the Translator in Cragstone into a Field Report apparently dictated by Atlan himself.
Minor Stinging Stone
The lore for this item (Sho Rumor) can be purchased from Fenza Tan the Scribe in Hebian-To. It reads:
A most unusual tale has been told to me several times this week. It seems that a lone swordsman, hunting mosswarts in the Blackmire, came across an unusual granite cave thrust up from the ground, south of Yanshi and west of Sawato. In this cave he found a green stone of unusual quality. It is said that a mage of some ability examined the stone, and determined it to have several enchantments upon it. What these were, and how to activate them, he could not discern.
You are directed to the Swamp Cave at (24.5S, 47.4E) south of Yanshi. Begin in Yanshi, go south to the South Yanshi Outpost, and use the Lifestone there (!). Continue south and a bit east through the swamps. The Swamp Cave is surrounded (at somewhat of a distance) by many, many packs of mosswarts. While these packs are not difficult to dispatch in and of themselves, once you get to the Swamp Cave and start fighting the Mosswarts there the packs will come in and swarm you from all directions!
One suggestion is to circle the Swamp Cave at a distance, dispatching as many of the mosswarts as possible, whittling down their numbers. Then, when you assault the Cave, you won`t get swarmed.
The Swamp Cave is inhabited by Lvl 45 Mosswart Soul Trappers and the like (use fire attacks if possible; alternatives are pierce, bludgeon, and electric attacks). The Shamans can be taken out one by one. After that, you must descend into the (small) cave and fight a large pack of Lvl 53 Sewer Rats. Fire works well against these vermin (alternatively slashing and piercing). Once finished, pick up the Minor Stinging Stone and the Soiled Parchment. It can be translated by (who else?) Bretself the Translator, resulting in Asheron`s Decree, a missive from Asheron describing the slaying of the Council by the Hopeslayer.
Minor Shivering Stone
The lore for this item (Aluvian Rumor) can be purchased in Cragstone from Magus Gondibyr Langarl. It reads as follows:
A pair of adventurers recently found a queer stone in the mountains to the north. They were returning from the assaults on Frore, and became lost in a late blizzard. They took shelter in a small ice hut right on the edge of the Lost Wish Mountains, directly east of Holtburg and north of Cragstone. Inside they discovered a strange blue stone and a book. These seem to be artifacts of some lost form of Empyrean technology. Maybe you should investigate.
Begin in Holtburg. From here, take the Holtburg Wilderness Settlement Portal at 40.2N 35.1E. From this settlement, it is now only a short run to the igloo mentioned which is located at 42.7N, 49.8E.
The area is surrounded by many level 53 Glacial Golems. As you might expect, fire works best in dispatching these guardians. In the Igloo you will find the Minor Shivering Stone and a Textbook. Return to Cragstone and seek out Bretself the Translator. Give him the Textbook and he returns to you Atlan`s Treatise.
