While quaffing some ale in Ayan Baqur, I couldn`t help but overhear Ulgrim the Unpleasant pontificating thus:

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "Those snowmen in Frost Haven assume that if it looks like a snowman and has a carrot for a nose that it will act like a snowman. There are far too many people toying with the easily accessible magics of this world. Mark my words, bad things are bound to happen."

Well, Hmmmm. Of course, as we all know, Frost Haven is the snowman village northeast of Qalaba`r. Interested medium-level characters (say, Level 40+) can assist the village with their neighborhood bully. See our Frost Haven Quest Writeup for more details.

So, what are they up to? A quick visit was indicated. I headed northeast from Qalaba`r, climbed the mountain, and entered the village. I talked to everyone. All but one of the villagers had Scold the bully on their minds. The lone exception was . . .

Elijah tells you, "I seem to have created a hideous killing machine. Perhaps if you could look around the mountains you might find my creation. It`s about twice your height and incredibly deadly. Thanks!"

Well, these are incredibly non-specific directions, both as to location and target! Still, I searched the mountains surrounding the village and, at (74.4S, 34.8E) [apparently a random spawn] I met ... the Level 125 Abominable Snowman! (See Picture!)

This annoying figure was, indeed, twice as tall as myself. As soon as I attacked it began casting various level VI and VII spells, including Vitality Siphon, Gravity Well, Gelidite`s Bait, and others. It also cast elemental Cold Wall Spells! Extremely annoying :P

Luckily I had cast Level VII protections beforehand. Although I was unable to determine the initial Health of the creature, I estimated it to be about 2000+. I attacked with Slash/CS; no doubt a Fire weapon would have been better (d`oh).

Eventually I prevailed. On the corpse I found a Huge Lump of Coal. I returned to Elijah at Frost Haven ...

You give Elijah A Huge Lump of Coal.
Elijah tells you, "I see you have found my escaped creation. I was attempting to build a powerful defender for Snow Haven, but something went awry. Then there was the smashing and the stomping, oy the big teeth, then came the unbearable pain."
Elijah tells you, "With this Huge Lump of Coal I will attempt to reproduce the experiment in order to figure out what went so very very wrong. Don`t worry I have things completely under control. Take this as a small reward for your help."
Elijah gives you Winter Orb.

Note: As an alternative, you can give the Huge Lump of Coal to the Blind Snowman, who will reward you with a Snowy Cabin Snowglobe.
