The task of defeating Baron Nuvillus isn’t so much a traditional “quest” as it is killing a static spawn, so compared to most adventurer errands, it’s relatively simple.

First, Take the Hebian-To portal at the bottom of the Abandoned Mines (Subway). From there, take a short run to the Stoneport Villas Portal at (41.5S, 82.2E). Finally, just take another short run to the “Skeleton Castle” at (24.3S, 76.6E) (you’ll recognize this place if you’ve ever done the Silk Flag Quest; it’s where you find the Spinning Wheel).

The name may be unofficial, but boy is it apt. The building is filled to the brim with skeletal Undead. Here you’ll find everything from Skeleton Wraiths and Captains up to Skeleton Lord and Bone Lords. They’re mid-level, but since there’re so many of them, they can kill an unprepared adventurer rather easily; all of those orange dots aren’t healthy on slower internet connections either, so dialup users beware. Fortunately, most of the denizens are contained by ledges or other rooms, so you shouldn’t have to worry about fighting the entire castle at once.


Enter from the southwest side of the castle, and as you enter the central courtyard, you’ll see a ramp to your right side. At the top of this ramp is a small throne room, with the Baron himself inside. At Level 85 and with both a fiery melee attack and spellcasting abilities (listen for his shrieks when he lets loose a spell), Nuvillus can put up a decent fight. Just watch out for his guards, and attack the Baron with bludgeoning attacks, and he’ll quickly fall. On his corpse you’ll find your prize, the Crown of Bones (one week timer on pickup), a crown made from, ewwww, the bones of human fingers (hopefully, not belonging to anyone you’ve just met in the castle). Inside his throne room, you can also find an unlocked Runed Chest containing more potentially-valuable loot.

Once you’ve obtained your crown and other prizes, it’s time to vacate the premises—before the Baron and Company decide to get up and start fighting again.
