The defeat of the Ancient Olthoi Queen and the recovery of High Queen Elysa Strathelar from an attempted assassination was the beginning of a period of rapid change throughout Dereth. Perhaps the biggest change to come about was the decision that Elysa and Asheron, her friend and advisor since the end of Olthoi slavery, would part company. Feeling he was no longer needed here, Asheron returned to his ancestral home on the island of Knorr in the hopes of finding some way to free it-and the rest of Auberean-from the plague of the Olthoi. To honor this significant event, High Queen Elysa commissioned seamstress Jalina al-Hajj to design and create a special commemorative pennant available to all of those present in Dereth at the time of Asheron's departure.
Walkthrough
Obtaining a Homecoming Pennant ranks somewhere between completing the Training Academy and talking to a Town Crier in its scope and difficulty. The first step in the quest is easily the most difficult: Navigating to the geographical and mathematical middle of nowhere that is Al-Arqas (31.1 S, 13.7 E). Thanks to summoned portals, the trip should be a short one; just stop buy an Archmage or any other vendor selling town recall gems and purchase an Al-Arqas Gem. Use the gem and step through the portal.
For those who are too cheap - I mean, financially conservative to buy a portal gem, the "long" way is still brief. Simply take the Yaraq (21.5 S, 1.6 W) portal at the bottom of the Abandoned Mines (SUB) (34.9 N, 54.6 E), and then the Yaraq to Al-Arqas portal located at (22.8S, 0.7W).
Once you find yourself in sunny Al-Arqas, find and approach the seamstress Jalina al-Hajj in a tent located at (31.1S, 13.9E):
"The High Queen has commissioned me to create a pennant for all Isparians currently upon Dereth. Asheron himself has provided the device - the heraldry of his family. I am told that this is in honor of our continued bravery and heroics. He and the High Queen have decided that he no longer needs to watch over us, and now Asheron may return to his home.""Take this pennant and display it proudly! But be warned that I am only commissioned to provide you with this once."
Congratulations. You've now obtained a rare and coveted Homecoming Pennant. There are several different possible colors you can get, and which color you are given is totally random; all Pennants, however, are emblazoned with the same logo, the sigil of the Realaidain family and symbol of the Lyceum at Knorr. Pennants can be dropped or given, as well as placed in floor or roof hooks. Click and drag the Pennant to your character's weapon slot, and he/she will hold the Pennant high for everyone to see.
Each character can only obtain one Pennant. Try for any more, and Jalina gives you the brush-off:
"I have already provided you with a pennant. Display it proudly!"
Also, as Jalina states, the Pennants are obtainable only by those "currently upon Dereth". That means only characters existing at the beginning of the January 2004 patch are allowed to get them. If you approach Jalina with a character created after that point:
Jalina al-Hajj tells you, "I am sorry, friend. I have only the materials to provide pennants to those who were already on Dereth when Asheron returned home.
