Introduced During:That Which Is Ours
From Carving Keys and Keyrings: In the beginning, we transplanted Isparians who had some knowledge of locks and keys were perhaps not considered the most valuable members of the community. Some, in fact, even cast aspirations on our pasts and suggested that the main use of a facility with locks was to open doors better left shut. But as time went on, more and more uses for our particular talents were found. I've compiled a short list of those new uses here, both as a guide for the aspiring locksmith and as a proof of our worth to any in the community who might doubt it.

The first thing you will need is a good tool. Although lockpicks are the traditional tool for our work, you'll need something sturdier for carving keys and keyrings. I recommend purchasing an Intricate Carving Tool from the fine person who sold you this guide.

Walkthrough

The first of the keys to be made available to Isparians, Intricate Keys are used on Mnemosynes - ancient devices of the Dericost for storing memories and thoughts. This history of Mnemosynes can be bought in an Nexus town, Mnemoysnes and the Art of Lockpicking.

Intricate keys are some easy to obtain, both through hunting golems and as the hearts are a reward of the Elysa's Favor quest. Carving of each heart will result in three keys; keys can be stacked in groups of 50.

The beginning lockpicker will find these keys the easiest to make and often return the most reward.

The keys listed below can only be found by hunting dangerous creatures. The Virindi Keys are not passable until carved - be sure you have the skill to carve it or a visit to the town crier will be in order. The Masters Holding and Directive Cache hold treasure comparable to that found on monsters. The valued Singularity Trove hold treasure of greater damage and value than any in Dereth.

The marble and granite keys can be found only by visiting the Valley of Death. The creatures within pose great danger therefore these keys can be passed to a skilled lockpicker as the chests are also only found within the Valley of Death. Both the Mahogany and Oak chests will reward the opener with treasures beyond the imagination - Singularity quality treasure - should you survive removing it from the chest. There is also a timer on picking up these keys.

Many the adventurer has found his packs full as he guards his keys waiting for the opportunity to open his favored treasure trove. As time passed in this new land, we've become more and more skilled at carving those very useful golem hearts. Keyrings have been the latest of the uses found.
