One of the mightiest blademasters in the history of the Empyrean races was Leikotha, the Chevaird of Haebrous. While fighting on the plateau of Gelid at the end of the Millennium War, she was beheld by the Dericost general, Nerash, who was instantly infatuated with her. Nerash kidnapped Leikotha and turned her into a mu-miyah like himself. Leikotha escaped a few years later and wrought her vengeance upon Nerash, slaying him at the Battle of Ayn Tayan during the First Shadow War.
At Ayn Tayan, her sword Ashbane, forged by the master smith Dhere was lost. But it is said the Dark Lady Aerfalle recovered it.
Walkthrough
Following the Battle of Ayn Tayan, the Dark Lady Aerfalle took the sword Ashbane with her back to Aerlinthe. It currently resides in her chest where it can be recovered along with Aerfalle's staff and pallium. For information on recovering Ashbane, please refer to the Aerlinthe Quest writeup.
Ashbane itself is a mighty sword. Forged, in part, with chorizite it cannot be buffed or debuffed. It cannot be given away or lost on death. The weapon itself does 15-30, Fire with a –4% Melee Defense penalty and a +8% Attack modification, Speed 30.
However, if you are not a sword user there is a practical use for it. Leikotha herself still exists and will accept her sword back. To get to Leikotha use the Samsur Housing Portals (1.0S 18.9E) and go to the Yinar Settlement. From there, run to Leikotha’s Crypt (10.2S 31.3E). Leikotha is guarded by four Greater Mu-Miyah. Slay the mu-miyah and hand Leikotha her sword:

A sound slowly builds within Leikotha, until finally an unearthly scream emanates from her. You feel the din about to deafen you when the scream stops.
Leikotha tells you, "Why... why..."
Leikotha stares silently at the blade of the sword.
Leikotha tells you, "How... where... ai, thy mind tells me that thou has found in one of Aerfalle’s caches. Foul magus that she is. I shall reward thee for thy efforts."
You’ve earned 500,000 experience.
Leikotha tells you, "Now leave me. Leave my with my bitter memories..."
