Introduced During:The Hall of the Tusker King
In the autumn of Portal Year 13 new portals were discovered leading to the island of Aphus Lassel. Quickly termed Monkey-Island, this new land was home to hordes of tuskers and even more strangely, their human followers. Rumors persisted of a mighty tusker king, called Bobo by his dimwitted followers, but no one could find this elusive king. A woman appeared on the island named Kleeoh (2.5S 86.5E) and she spoke fervently about this king, giving his real name: Oolutanga. Following her directions, a path was discovered beneath a waterfall in the thickest part of the tusker jungles (8.7S 85.7E). Within the depths of the caverns lived the largest and most ferocious of tuskers. But those brave adventurers who could survive the journey found themselves in the Hall of the Tusker King.

Walkthrough

Preparations:

The Tusker King quest will lead you through four linked dungeons, to meet Bobo himself, and finally to battle his champion, Mowen Udaun.

  • Monsters. During the course of the quest you will face numerous tuskers from Plateds through Annihilators. In addition to tuskers you will meet humans (Sycophants), Reapers, and Obsidian Chittiks.
  • Life Protections. Humans cast all types of war magic so ensure you have all seven life protections.
  • Banes. Bane for Bludgeon damage and Pierce damage.
  • Weapons. Bring fire weapons for tuskers (Armor Rending is advisable) and pierce or bludgeon for the Reapers and Chittiks.
  • Traps. The quest has numerous traps that cast Tusker Gift (bludgeon vuln VII) and Nullify Magic Other. This will dispel all LVI spells and below so you will need either LVII or item activated spells to safely survive the quest.
The quest will require approximately 3 Level VII buff cycles though this will vary on how fast you move. Monsters within the dungeons have a spawn rate of about five minutes.

Recommended Buff Cycles are as follows:

1st – Buff in town (Oolutanga’s Refuge); run to Kleeoh; complete the first dungeon (Behind the Waterfall)

2nd – Buff at the entry point of the second dungeon (Tusker Warrior’s Lair). Complete it and the third dungeon (Tusker’s Food Storage).

3rd – Buff at the entry point of the fourth dungeon (Legend of the Tusker King). Complete it, talk to Bobo, and fight Mowen Udaun.

If you group is small or experienced you will be able to do the quest in two cycles. The second rebuff being done at the start of the third dungeon (Tusker’s Food Storage)

To begin, go to the town of Oolutanga's Refuge. You can reach here by searching for a random Tusker Temple on the Obsidian Plains or you can enter through the Tusker Temple Dungeon. To reach the Tusker Temple Dungeon, head to Fort Tethana. From there it's a short run to 0.7n 68.2w. The temple contains Tusker Guards, Slaves, Devastators and Worshippers. Once you reach then, click on the temple to take you to Oolutanga's Refuge.

When you arrive, buff all Protections, and Bludgeon, Pierce, and Lightning Banes. Once this is done, you will need to run to see a fanatic living on Tusker King's Island. From Oolutanga's Refuge, run to 2.5S 86.5E and speak to the lady named Kleeoh. The spawn around the cottage where Kleeoh lives is massive, so it is wise to clear it so no party members get stuck. This is what Kleeoh says once you have spoken to her:

Kleeoh tells you,"Hello child, I sense dat you be looking for high adventure here where da tusker is king, no? Well let Kleeoh give you da help den. Why ya wonder I hid from ya when first ya came to da island?"

Kleeoh tells you,"Well that be simple, Oolutanga don't be liking those of us dat can think for ourselves. Who's Oolutanga?"

Kleeoh tells you,"You come to da island of da king Oolutanga. A refugee from da halls of a cruel virindi name by Aerbax."

Kleeoh tells you,"Oolutanga is a special tusker you see. Yes. He be powerful strong and powerful big and powerful smart. He be a tusker dat hates da virindi. He frees his people when he can."

Kleeoh tells you,"He has a magic about him. A magic dat comes from da hand dat he lost while fighting da former owner of dis island."

Kleeoh chortles.

Kleeoh tells you,"Dey say dat if a person get hold of da hand taken from Oolutanga dey can have three wishes granted. But only in da temple of da king."

Kleeoh tells you,"You be wanting to go dere den eh?"

Kleeoh tells you,"Well head to da waterfall on de interior of dis island and search for da entrance. Dere you find your way... Dere you find your way."

Kleeoh tells you,"Read da signs. Dey tell secrets dey do."
Once this is accomplished, you have been qualified to begin the treacherous journey to visit King Bobo. From Kleeoh, run to the Behind the Waterfall portal at (8.7S, 85.7E) (Which has an 80+ Level restriction).

First Dungeon (Behind the Waterfall)

The first dungeon is defended by tuskers, humans.

Behind the Waterfall is a fairly symmetrical dungeon so there are several routes through it. One such route is as follows:

(Be aware there are many dispell traps) Inside you will immediately face a T-intersection. Take the Right and follow the hall into the first large room. Clear the room and take the exit hallway on the East wall. Continue down that hallway until you come to the second room. After fighting the monsters within, run to the Northeast corner of the room and take the exit there. This hallway will lead you into the third chamber, again filled with monsters. Once it is cleared take the exit in the Southeast side. This hallway will lead you to a 4-way Intersection. Take the Right hallway (East) and follow it to the final large chamber. This room will have a statue of Bael’zharon in it. Behind the statue is the portal to the second dungeon: “Tusker Warrior’s Lair”.

Second Dungeon (Tusker Warrior’s Lair)

This dungeon contains the same monsters as before, but the architecture is not like the first.

Upon arriving in the Tusker Warrior’s Lair, your buffs are probably getting low. The drop is a safe place to rebuff. In this dungeon you will encounter tuskers and humans.

Head south until you hit a wall and then turn West. Follow the wall around as it turns South and then East. Next, hug the left wall and follow it down a ramp (you will now be running North). This hallway will lead you to a room. Take the exit on the West wall.

Follow the hall around as it curves West then South, then the path will wind left and right, left and right for a short distance until you enter the Ramp Room. The room is full of tuskers so the best method is too setup a shield wall at the top of the ramp. Once the room is cleared, run down the ramp to the bottom and take the East corridor along the South wall. Continue Southeast through a labyrinth of columns. This will lead you to a chamber with a portal to the third dungeon: “Tusker Food Storage”.

Third Dungeon (Tusker Food Storage):

This is where the quest gets a little more interesting. When everyone has downloaded, BUFF UP, don't go anywhere. Buff All prots, Bane PIERCE, and Bludgeon banes this time. You will face massive amounts of Reapers at times, as well as Obsidian Chitticks. Further on, you will encounter (You guessed it), more tuskers. This dungeon is much more confusing to navigate.

The “Tusker Food Storage” is defended by tuskers, humans, reapers and chittiks (the tusker food).

From the drop point, head Northeast then down to the East. Take the first North hallway and follow it to the 4-way Intersection. Take the east hallway and continue until you hit the end of the hallway. At the end turn run South until you encounter the first West hallway. Take this hall. It will curve South and lead into a large room full of tuskers.

The best method is to fight the tuskers from the end of the hallway where they can only reach you a few at a time. After the tuskers have been slain, continue into the room and you will find the portal to the fourth dungeon: “Legend of the Tusker King.”

Fourth Dungeon (Legend of the Tusker King):

This is a very short and quick dungeon that shouldn't take long to get through. Rampagers, Plated Tuskers, Devastators, Assailers, and Annihilators frequent this dungeon. Same rule applies: GO DOWN.

Within the “Legend of the Tusker King,” you will encounter tuskers and humans only. Pierce banes are no longer necessary for the remainder of the quest. Only fire weapons will be needed from hereon.

This dungeon is mostly one-way. Follow the hallway as it winds through several small rooms with crudely drawn tusker paintings. Eventually the hallway will end with two hallways branching to your right and two to the left. Take the first hallway on the Left. This hallway will continue some distance and will run past a branching hallway. Ignore the branch and continue following the main hall. It will run South and down to a large sloped room. At the bottom of the room take the hallway that runs from a hole in the middle of the floor. Hug the left wall of this hallway and you will encounter the portal “Throne of the Tusker King.”

"A crude picture depicting a Virindi as it spreads
open the skull of a Tusker to poke at the substance within its head."
"A crude picture that shows a tusker eating
one human, and speaking to other human."
"A childlike painting that shows a Tusker with one
hand missing fighting agains an enormous Monouga.
"A picture of a Tusker wearin a crown and munching on a Chittick."

Bobo “Throne of the Tusker King”:

The “Throne of the Tusker King” is the dwelling place of the mighty Bobo. The chamber is empty of monsters. Make sure everyone is ready to fight Mowen Udaun before anyone speaks to Bobo. Once everyone is ready, talk to Bobo:

Note, If you wear the Tusker Helm from Dark Bobo, and talk to Bobo he will say the following to you,

"Oolutanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Your head armor has offended me, who is Oolutanga, King of the Tuskers, and now you shall pay the price, which is public mockery.

"Oolutanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Let your corpse be a warning to others who would make tuskers into fine magical items."

King Bobo then teleports you high above AL drop with Bludgeon vulns and you land inside the Bamboo Cage. The only way out is to portal or lifestone out.

Credit goes to my friend Raidor of Solclaim who was the unknowing victim in this whole mess and unknowingly discoverd this little Easter egg.

Make sure and remove the Tusker Helm before you talk to King Bobo. You can put it back on once your inside. And then remove it again before talking to him for your rewards. Unless you enjoy running back through the whole three dungeons again, then go for it.

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "I am Oolutanga the Tusker King. You are not worthy of speaking to me. You must fight and beat our hero Mowen Udaun before you can have my magic Tusker Paw.

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Take your group and prepare for battle in the room where I will send you. Take your time and be ready to fight our champion who is very strong. Then go through the portal there and come to the isle of testing."

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "I will bring the other tuskers to watch you in your fight."

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Win and I will reward you with my fabled Tusker paw, I will even make sure it has its magical powers courtesy of the other who speaks like you, Ketnan."

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Lose and your body will rot in the arena. Sorry that is the way of things around here. Make sure you armor yourself well, because your magic will help very little against Mowen."
From here, Oolutanga will teleport you into a very small room, with a portal in front of you labeled: Arena of the Tusker Hero (80+). DO NOT GO IN YET! Have your group buff up BEFORE going into the Arena of the Tusker Hero portal. Life protects will not help you. Bane everything! And have healers on hand. You will need them.

Mowen Udaun “Arena of the Tusker Hero”:

The fight with Mowen Udaun is not an easy one. In addition to him, there will be a Rampager and several Tuskie-Gunners. But the real threat is Mowen who hits VERY hard. He is L900 and has 8000 health.

You will fight various levels of tuskers, from Assailers to Annihilators. And in the midst of this all, you must battle a level 900 Tusker, named Mowen Udaun. Once your group has buffed, take your group through, and have them all run into ONE corner. From here, have the mages vuln fire, imperil, and fester Mowen. To ensure that everyone is quest flagged you must make it through the upcoming portal. Make sure everyone stays healed, and he should go down pretty quick. Once he has fallen, a white gateway will appear. Double click on the portal FAST, as it disappears quickly, and then you are stuck. The portal teleports you back to Oolutanga. Talk to him.
Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Congratulations, you have bested the hero of the tusker people. So I, Oolutanga, give you now a reward so that you know that Oolutanga who is me, honors his word."

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King gives you Fabled Tusker Paw.

Ooluntanga, the Tusker King tells you, "Now walk through the portal to the temple of wishing. But do it before three days pass* or you will lose your right to enter there."

After the Battle

Once Mowen Udaun is slain a portal will open in the room taking you back to Bobo’s throne room. Talk to Bobo and he will give you a Fabled Tusker Paw. If you inflicted the most damage your paw will have three fingers raised (three wishes). Otherwise it will have one finger raised (one wish).

Take the Temple of Wishing Portal to get your reward.

You will find yourself in a small dungeon with tusker shrines surrounding you. Directly ahead of you is the shrine you are looking for. It's called the Statue of the Artificer's Wish. Give the statue the paw, and you will learn "Tusker Island Recall". If you are one the lucky one that did the MOST damage to Mowen, your paw has three fingers sticking up. This means three "wishes". Use one on the Artificer's Wish, and then you have two left to do with as you please. The other statues give different amounts of XP towards different skills, and even a Statue of Greedy Wishes that will fill up your pack space with trade notes ranging from I notes to M notes (Maximum 100 slots filled).
In some cases you can get tattoos. While it is not certain what it takes to get tattoos it is speculated that they come from the second or third use of a wish on the same statue. Another theory is that you must have the Skill specialized to receive said tatoos.

Paraduck, you know, the guy that posts the news over on ACVault, reported that he went on the Tusker Paw quest and found the Blue Kits!

Statue of Healer's Wish gives you 100 Treated Hyssops.
Statue of Healer's Wish gives you 100 Treated Mandrakes.
Statue of Healer's Wish gives you 100 Soft Bandageses.
Hyssop + Mandrake = Combined Hyssop and Mandrake
You crumble the dried and treated leaves together.
Combined Hyssop and Mandrake + Soft Bandages = Plentiful Healing Kit.
You pack the bandages with the herbs. The odor is pungent and heady. The kit appears to be bulkier than any others you have seen.
"The kits have 100 uses. I have not failed (in the making of the kits) with over 430 buffed healing (it's specialized). I have not had a chance to test the kits either."

It is thus speculated that this reward may take the place of a tatoo.

I myself (Roewin) have turned a paw (my first one) into the Statue of Healer's Wish and received 1,000,000 million XP into my healing (but alas no Blue Kits). I have received word that you DO NOT have to have the skill specialized to receive a tattoo, nor do you have to have the paw with 3 wishes.
