Getting Started
So you want to test your skill and patience by doing this quest! Originally this quest was designed to work during AC DM Retail, but it was extremely difficult. Turbine didn't expect this quest too be so hard. They stated that rubble spawns were not related to Queen Quests, but still the general population still couldn't figure it out. A lot of people have their of theories and ideas on how to spawn the rubble. Then once in awhile someone would get VERY lucky and find the "Blue Noble". This noble dropped a rubble piece, but what to do with it was a mystery. Later, by trial and error someone figured it out. In February's patch "Fever Dreams" Devs for Turbine made the rubble spawns more accessible to players and in May 2003, the rubble and totem handing in dynamic was modified to become much more accessible. Now I've got the history of this quest summarized. Let's start!
Finding Hea Temenua
Who is Hea Temenua? Hea Temenua, a Level 111 Tumerok that carries the Elari Bow. He will drop the pieces to the bow, as well as a "Hea Totem". The Hea Totem is giveable/droppable, but you must be the one that killed Hea Temenua when you turn in the totem to Aun Hareltah of Timaru. Be careful when fighting Hea Temenua. He has some "Hollow Explosive Tip Arrows" which would cause a mage in a robe 150+ damage. Hea Temenua spawns during the Queen Quest stage when a group is breaking the rings. If you wait too long to kill him you'll witness a raid spawn of bug surrounding you.
Turning in your Hea Totem
Wow, you are only 1/4 into this quest. Before you turn in your totem you must decide what item you want in return. Stave of Palenqual, Hoeroa of Palenqual or Kalindan of Palenqual? There are three students standing behing Aun Heraltah, each of them will grant you one of the three items. Aun Rukuona will give you the Stave, Aun Kiriona will grant the Hoeroa and Aun Turiona will bestow the Kalindan.
| Weapon Name | Weapon Type | Student |
|---|---|---|
| Hoeroa of Palenqual | Melee Staff | Aun Kiriona |
| Kalindan of Palenqual | Crossbow | Aun Turiona |
| Stave of Palenqual | Magic Staff | Aun Rukuona |
Hareltah's Parchment
Here is the parchment I got for the Stave of Palenqual.
Hives
Ok now for a little lore translation:
"There are five totems that the elder shaman of the Aun xuta have prepared for use. You must seek these boons from them in the fields of this Marescent Plateau, for they have piled their kindling far from here. They bear a heavy weight for our xuta. Be your eyes and mind open, though, for only three of these five boon-totems may be added to the totem of Palenqual. "
Basically says:
"There are 5 hives on the Plateau. Each hive holds a piece of rubble that could repair the rings and keep the queen dormant. Each rubble is very heavy. You must help us by retrieving these pieces of the Menhir Rings. In return we'll give you a totem for each rubble. Each rubble is different and the totem will have different powers. These totems can be added to your Stave, but you can only use 3. So pick wisely."
Now all the hives have a random spawn portal, but each portal exists at any given time. So you won't be closed off for the hive. Here is the break down of each hive and what kind of rubble they have.
| Order | Hive Name | Totem | Map | Hive Restrictions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | New Hive | Levels 70+ | ||
| 2 | Shallow Hive | Levels 60+ | ||
| 3 | Simple Hive | Levels 50+ | ||
| 4 | Small Hive | Levels 40+ | ||
| 5 | Tiny Hive | Levels 30+ |
Where is the Rubble?
Well the rubble is at the bottom of each hive. Each hive is designed different and have at least one Noble. The rubble exists in the bowels of a "Blue Noble".
Blue Noble
Looks like you made it to the bottom of the hive and found a Blue Noble. This Blue Noble is a Solider on steroids. Raid bug basically at level 80 with super regeneration rate, attacking power and 400 health. The Blue Noble is on a 15 min respawn if there is a line. This spawn rotates between a regular Purple Noble (Lvl 145) and Blue Noble. Careful when killing this Blue Noble and looting lots of rubble. Rubble is heavy @ 8k burden. Too much burden = lower melee, lower speed.
Totems
Now for the Totems and what cool magic they have. Each Palenqual weapon has a different use for each totem.
As of the May 2003 event, Discoveries, each weapon has the following spells on it: Regeneration VI, Rejuvenation VI, Mana Renewal VI.
| Weapon Name | Spell Name | Spell Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Kalindan of Palenqual | Timaru | Quickness +10 (can be layered) |
| Carenzi | Coordination VI to the weapon | |
| Siraluun | Lesser Hunter's Acumen to the weapon (Increases the target's Coordination by 4 points, can be layered) | |
| Storms | Adds 25% damage to all quarrels shot | |
| Tonk | Crossbow Mastery VI to the weapon | |
| Hoeroa of Palenqual | Timaru | Armor +30 (can be layered) |
| Carenzi | Strength VI to the weapon | |
| Siraluun | Lesser Strength of Earth to the weaponn (Increases the target's Strength by 4 points, can be layered) | |
| Storms | Lowers the base damage, but critical hits will now be 4x the normal damage | |
| Tonk | Staff Mastery VI to the weapon | |
| Stave of Palenqual | Timaru | Magic Resistance +10 (can be layered) |
| Carenzi | Focus VI to the staff | |
| Siraluun | Minor Focus to the staff | |
| Storms | "Avalanche" (snow stones fall from the sky) – Inaccurate and can only be used outside | |
|
Tonk |
War Magic Mastery Self VI to the staff |
Turning in the Rubble
At one point, you would need to speak with a certain drummer who was beating the tune to stop the Wharu in the appropriate menhir ring. More recently however, the Aun Tumeroks are more cooperative and appreciative for any asssistance that you may provide them in their quest to stop the Wharu. Simply hand the aquired rubble to Aun Ngationa in Timaru, and he will reward you with the corresponding totem as a thank you gesture.
Aun Ngationa tells you, "My thanks to you, Isparian. This piece can be used to heal the stones in the northwest. Accept this gift from our proud drummers."
Time to apply the Totem
Once you have turned in your 3 Rubbles for whatever totems you want, your last step is to apply them to the item you got from Hareltah. You have to apply all 3 totems in order to wield the item, and there is no skill check involved. Once the totems are applied, you can arm the item and go show it off to your friends.
Returning a Totem to Hareltah
Now if you don't want the totem or have no interest in this quest. You can always get the totem and give it to Hareltah for 50,000 XP points. I don't think its worth 50,000 XP. If you can collect lots of New Hive Rubble and turn it in at the North Ring. That is a very effective way to earn lots of XP. The North Ring Drummer doesn't disappear when you give him the rubble. Keep that one under your hat :)
