Used to cast War Magic spells .
Foci are used instead of regular components when casting spells. To cast using Foci all you need is the Foci of the particular school, prismatic tapers (if casting spells greater than level 1), and the scarab appropriate to the level of spell you are casting. No other components are needed. The Foci itself takes up one pack slot and you cannot put items into it. If you prefer, you may still use the "old" method of using components to cast spells. Also, despite their value of 500 pyreal, Foci cost 25,000 pyreal to purchase.
