A young man who grew up hearing tales of his uncle's glory days as a caravan guard, and of his father's departure into one of the many strange portals that had begun to appear in the Gharu'ndim lands, and he soon determined that he too would journey into the portals in search of fame and fortune. He arrived in the forest of Shoushi, where he quickly learned that down the road was a much better place for an aspiring warrior as himself - Hebian-To. Here he met a person whose family would remain a part of his life for the rest of his days - Kanabiis Atiiva. The two met and hunted together often, enjoying each other's company. Making his way along the beaches of Hebian-to, he soon met another warrior, more experienced than him. Succumbing to the tempting offer of samurai plate and elemental weaponry, Akal pledged his service to the man. Bushido, his new patron, soon taught him many simple tactics a young warrior should know - how to bait an opponent with a thrown dagger, to aim high on wasps and low on gromnies, to use lightning on water elementals and lugians. Soon Bushido brought Akal to fight the lugians who camped outside of Q'labar, and left him to fend for himself.

Months passed, as the neophyte warrior tried painfully to survive the brute strength of the giants without assistance. His inadequate weaponry and lack of allies meant that he lost more fights than he won, and the quality of his equipment dwindled as his experience grew.

One day, dozing at the library that he had named as his home, a kindly woman by the name of Antena woke Akal from his sleep. She introduced herself as a member of the Dereth Guard, and asked Akal if he wished to join them. Soon Akal found himself sworn to a hard-drinking Aluvian named Domi-Ko. The two got along remarkably well, and Akal soon learned that good friends and a helpful patron were better gifts than good equipment and powerful weaponry. With Domi-Ko, Akal learned the value of arcane lore, and the many subtle tricks of battling lugians in their own fortress - the Citadel.

The year slowly went on, and Akal soon gained two vassals of his own - Alixx'doroute and Al-Quazim. Al, a staffer who reminded Akal of his own days as a neophyte, was a good companion and warrior. Sadly, he soon tired of dying repeatedly (and yes, he died very often) to enemies and retired. Alixx became Akal's boon companion soon after his arrival in Dereth. The two traveled the world and quested together, rarely outpacing the other in experience. More time passed, and Akal had become a powerful warrior in his own right, now able to fight toe-to-toe with dozens of Lugians. His younger brother had arrived in Dereth, and his faithful manservant had finally departed. Alixx discovered the caves of Metos, and the two spent many hours battling undead sorcerers.

Akal achieved many quests in this time - he created his own Atlan sword for use against the shadows that his allegiance valiantly fought, he defeated the Zharalim shadows who followed Hamud, and traveled across Dereth to create his Ravenous sword.

A new vassal entered Akal's life - Jennifer Pcw. As he adjusted to the burden of supporting two vassals, his allegiance split away from the Dereth Guard, becoming the Knights of Valor. As a Knight, Akal's days were at their brightest. He had a good patron, a helpful monarch, two active and lovable vassals, and his entire life ahead of him. Soon he would even master the mystery of sorcery, and no longer be handicapped by his lack of magical aid.

The events that followed his achievement of item magic were many and jumbled. Alixx finally retired, and his sister, Neira, took up the fight. Akal briefly headed his own monarchy - Akal's Banditos - before returning to the Knights - this time sworn to Slingblade, Domi-Ko's old patron. Domi-Ko had also retired, replaced by his twin, Domi. Even Kan had retired, though her sister Re'nata, and her brothers Kalomus Ativa, Lego, and Amano Jyaku-Demon remained. Akal continued his search for new quests and opponents, finding many new things to fight each month.

Two years after his entry into Dereth, Akal found himself in a different world. He was now an able fighter, able to defeat nearly any monster he found in the wild. His longtime vassal Jennifer had decided to find her way in a smaller monarchy, with his blessing. He found himself with the third generation of his friend's family - and the third generation of his family arrived through the portal at this time - Itachi, his young niece, and Ghin, his third cousin on his mother's side twice removed....he is the only Sho member in a huge Gharu family. Akal swore allegiance to his longtime friend Lego, one of his oldest and closest friends.

Recently his longtime vassal Al-Quazim has returned to the world of Dereth, now as Justice Stone. Akal-Saris departed Lego's service, deciding that the allegiance Lego had allied himself was not the type he wished to be associated with. He soon swore to Stee Jans, a fellow meatshield who also lived at the library.

Now, nearly two and a half years after his entry into Dereth, Akal-Saris is an experienced quest guide and adventurer, and one of the last of the pure melees. He lives in a world of second and third generations of his friends, and though he has picked up a wand, he refrains from using it when he can. His life is less active than it was before, as he has slowly become content to merely chat and watch life continue in Dereth. He is not neither rich nor famous, but he is content.
