Fort Tethana Sentry tells you, "You may pass through the gate."
Fort Tethana Sentry says, "Hurry, lest the Renegades gain entry!"

When you talk to him he opens the gate with the lever behind him... or he closes it. He seems a bit confused as to how it works ^_^
