Timeline
| Pre-History | |
| Primordial gods struggle with evil shadow creatures and banish them into the earth by creating the sun and stars. (24) | |
| The Empyrean arrive on Dereth with a singular purpose. What that purpose was has been forgotten over the long ages. (32) | |
| Titanic battles between the witch-gods and a force which writhed within the bowels of the earth. (5) | |
| The Falatacot come to Dereth. Ruled by priestesses, the Falatacot were a matriarchy who worshipped the witch-gods and conducted blood rituals.
They settled the swamps and desert (lands occupied by the Sho and Gharundim today) marking their lands with the Heads of Tafelicor.
The Falatacot commanded great magics, some of which allowed them to dig enormous tunnels through the ground. They were also known as great prophets, receiving glimpses of the future during scarification rituals. Two of their lost ancient books are The Uotecatl Sect of Nahouhaztl and the Book of Eibhil. The ancient lore of the Falatacot speaks of the Mouth of the Abyss, the Web of the Elder Gods, and the Pulse of Darkness. (1, 5, 6, 27) |
|
| The Great Cooling of the World (4) | |
| The Falatacot are driven off Dereth by an ice age while their gods, the Old Ones, go to sleep in the swamps. (26, 33) | |
| The Falatacot come in contact with Dericost, a kingdom on another continent to the southeast. The Dericost allow the Falatacot into their kingdom as they are interested in the powers of their magic. Some of the Falatacot, including the grandmother of Adja, are held captive by the Ice Throne. (6, 26, 36) | |
| The Old Lords of Dericost begin using necromantic magics that turn them into liches, revenants, and other forms of undead. Lord
Rytheran of Menilesh is one of them.
At some point there is a schism among the Old Lords. It seems that they divided over religious matters, with some (like Lord Rytheran) worshipping the witch-gods (also called Old Ones), and others worshipping a different entity. (4, 5, 30) |
|
| Rytheran and some of the other Old Lords of Dericost, led by His Eternal
Splendor, arrive in Dereth via ship from Nesortania. (4)
Aerfalle and a dozen others see the last Old One still awake on Dereth. It is the size of a mountain. (33) |
|
| The Yalain build the Tou-Tou Lighthouse. (4) | |
| Vacari Eipoth | |
| The people of Haebrous and Yalain join together and cast down the Ice Throne of Dericost. Alaidain, Jailne, and Leikotha were some of the prominent empyreans at this battle. Alaidain and Jailne sneak through the Vasmora with information given to them by Adja's grandmother who had fled from the Dericost years ago into the throne room of Sarvien and slay the King of the Dericost. Many of the surviving Dericost are forced to live as migrants or underground in the grasslands of Yalain (on the other continent). The Latzimestal and the Sand Kings retreat to Dereth. (3, 6, 15, 29, 36) | |
| By decree of the Empress Alaidain, the Order of Hieromancers is formed to serve as her personal guard and household company. The first Matriarch of the Order, Kerelinas, is chosen from the Parhelic Sisterhood.(37) | |
| The Black Rain (20) | |
| Rhethis Eipoth | |
| Rytheran creates the Mage Academy where he teaches magic to the Yalain. He makes some of the Yalain undead down in the rank cellars where the Great Ones once lived. (4, 6) | |
| The Burning Time One of the Old Lords of Dericost (a lich) is found in hiding in Haebrous. The sons and daughters of old Dericost (the Gelidites - they named themselves after the Plateau of Gelid, the ancient homeland of the Dericost) are blamed and are put to fire and sword for the errors of their grandsires. The Yalain torture the Gelidites. Some of the Haebrous common soldiers blame the Gelidites for their monarch's death. These Gelidite refugees are guarded by the Order of Hieromancers as they are led to exile. The Grand Inquisitor and his two assistants are found dead in the square of Farimeh, and the Burning Time ends. (3, 6, 37) |
|
| The Gelidites come to Dereth at Fenngars suggestion, landing in the North near the Bandit Castle. Upon landing they use ancient necromantic spells to become undead. They wander for a while, leaving three monoliths to mark their passage. (6, 9) | |

The navigation channel into the lagoon is dredged. Reservoir dug to collect rainwater. All local water sources tainted with sulphur and ash. An Old Ring, buried under ash and ejecta, is found during the digging. It is left undisturbed, but considered a good omen. The island is titled Aerlinthe by Lord Loritane, a name which came to him in a dream. The central volcano is known of old to be called Tenkarrdun, Dericost for "Stoic Blood." The smaller peaks to the northwest and northeast are found to have been named Cunara ("Steaming Heights") and Ernassen ("Land Reflected"), respectively. The lagoon is dubbed Raina's Harbor. (28) |

Gevran Loritane disappears in the Dericost Marches, along with most of Atlan's army. Lady Raina assumes control of Gevran's house and holdings. Hare Aralea renews his oaths of fealty to the Lady in person, traveling to her castle in Glystenae via fast skyship. Lady Raina announces she carries a child of Gevran Loritane. This is a lie, as the child was really fathered by Hare Aralea. Lord Asheron researches planar magic, rediscovering the magics of his ancient ancestors, in hope to use it to imprison BaelZharon.
