Leather and Ivory Tinkering
Leather: Apply this material to a treasure-generated item in order to render that item "Retained". Retained items cannot be salvaged or sold to vendors. Applying this material does not require a tinkering skill, does not add a tinker to the target's count, and cannot destroy the target.
Ivory: Ivory has a unique use in the world of tinkering. When applying ivory salvage to an item that has a no-drop trait associated with it, the item can then be given or placed on a housing hook, but does attune the weapon to the original user so that no one else may wield it.
During the Slumbering Giant Event (01/2003), Ciandra published her findings on the abilities of Salvaged Ivory, and updated the list of those items that Ivory can be applied to.
Please note that there is no skill check involved, so even those who are not trained in the skill of Tinkering can apply Ivory to an item without worry of failure. The quality of the Ivory also does not appear to be a success factor.
