Introduction to Dyeing

Dyes can be applied to a multitude of items, some crafted, some store-bought, some treasure-generated. Stamps, Flags, Costumes, Olthoi Helms, Covenant Armor, Mattekar Coats, Stocking Caps, the Red Aluvian Dress...the list goes on and continues to grow.

Successful dyeing will change the color of your item, but for armor or clothing, there are some rules.

Certain quest items cannot be dyed, although this can change at anytime. Currently, this includes Matty Robes, Lesser/Medium/Greater Shadowhunter Armor, Sclavus Hide Armor, etc. Weapons, shields, and spellcasting implements (wands, staves, orbs) cannot be dyed, either.

Studded leather boots have metal rivets that change color according to your pants. When you dye those boots, the leather takes on the dye color, and the rivets continue to take the color of the pants. The same goes for Yoroi breastplates cuirasses, sleeves, and pauldrons, where they take the color of the shirt or tunic underneath. In all cases, the base color will change, while the accent/changing color keeps its original attributes.

Note that with Amuli, the breastplate and leather portions of the coat and legs take the color, and the shoulders and collar do not. With Kouija armor pieces, the accent changes according to clothing underneath, and panel colors do not take the dye. With Celdon, the veins keep their color.
