It’s My Vault
Gone Walkabout
It's my vault
Resorting to cheesy puns - I apologize, but that's where my wanderings have lead me lately. I did the Arwic, Lost Wish, and Esper Vaults. There's a lot of screeching drudges in each, but there were plenty of other adventurers to stick with, so it was pretty safe for me. After each, of course, I felt stronger, and (I hate to say it) more educated (I was never one much for lessons, even underground in the caves). A little more of the past unfolded and I found more to think about than "what critter am I gonna make into a pincushion today?"
After Esper Vault, I was feeling pretty smart and strong and full of myself so I skipped on over to Mad Crone Vault. I killed a strange bird-headed buzzard warrior to get the glyph, and found that the kingdom of Shadow had claimed this vault: there was a turret outside. Interesting. Being thoroughly neutral, I blithely entered the vault and found... more drudges! A couple of folks came along and cast some helpful spells on me, but they eventually went a different direction than I. I should have wondered about that a little more, I expect, but I forged ahead! I made it all the way to the vestibule, where a Drudge warlord spanked me quickly. As my spirit headed back to the lifestone, I saw him dance on my corpse! DAH! My ego was well deflated when I appeared at the lifestone again. I slunk off into the hills in search of something a little less - ah - damaging.
I mist it again
In the past several days I have attempted the Mist Opal quest... and I do mean "attempted". Usually on the way there I manage to kill those flea-bitten lashers that come roaring out of the hills. Always there's someone else also on the quest in the caves that is willing to cast a few helpful spells on me or partner with me to kill those obnoxious grutts that block the passages. I've healed that cursed opal four times. And I've croaked four times on the way back! I'm thinking I need to smarten up and use portal recall or something. Guess I should have paid more attention at my lessons after all. It may take me awhile, but I will prevail!
