AC2 World Consolidation Plans
We would like to announce that during the August episode patch, we are planning to consolidate the remainder of the US AC2 worlds. This means we'll be transferring all your characters from several worlds onto two others. We wanted to give you a look at how we're planning to do that and what it means for you as a player.
At this time, we are still considering what we will be doing with the populations in the Europe Datacenters and hope to make a follow-up announcement in the coming week or two.
- The overall plan is consolidate from the current nine worlds to a total of four worlds. Darktide and the current consolidated Coldeve/Snowreap* will remain untouched as two of those worlds.
- The worlds that will serve as hosts for the characters from the remaining 7 for this merge will be Frostfell and Thistledown. We chose these two because they are the most active worlds right now.
- Here are the worlds that will be merged into those two:
a. Frostfell: Harvestgain, Leafcull and Solclaim
b. Thistledown: Morningthaw, Winsterebb - When the merge worlds have been consolidated into the host worlds, you may end up with as many as 20 characters on each world, assuming you have all five character slots filled on the worlds to be merged. For example, if you have 5 active characters on each of Frostfell, Harvestgain, Leafcull and Solclaim, you would end up with 20 active characters on Frostfell after the worlds are merged.
- No two characters on the same world can have the same name, so when the worlds have been merged, a number and a two-letter abbreviation will be appended to the end of moved characters that conflict with a name on the host world. For example, if you have a character named Bob on Solclaim and there is already a character named Bob on Frostfell, after the merge the Solclaim Bob would be renamed to Bob1SC.
- If you have a character named Bob on all the merged worlds, you would have characters on Frostfell named something akin to Bob1SC, Bob2LC and Bob3HG. Please note that names on the host worlds always take precedence. That means that if there is a Bob on Frostfell and a Bob on Solclaim, the Bob on Frostfell will remain unchanged and the Bob from Solclaim will be modified.
- The eight character list box in the character selection screen has been modified to become a scroll box, so you can scroll and select any of your characters. You'll have sixty (60) days to decide which eight (8) characters you want to keep and to shift inventory around between characters. Thirty days after the worlds are consolidated, we will run a script that will keep your eight (8) most active characters on both Frostfell and Thistledown and delete the twelve (12) characters that are least active on each of those worlds. The eight active characters will be determined by checking to see which eight of your characters were most recently logged into the world.
- Thereafter, you'll continue to have eight character slots on Frostfell and Thistledown.
- All merged characters will have a rename credit available immediately, in case the owner wishes to change the name.
- Darktide will continue to be run as the PvP server. However, the population of the world is low and it may not be possible to keep it running. We'll be watching over the thirty day merge period and, if the populations don't rise, Darktide may be decommissioned and brought down. If we decide to do that, we'll give you plenty of warning. *During this time, we will be copying the entire character database of Darktide to Coldeve. If in the event that we should have to decommission Darktide, this will allow the players of Darktide to continue playing in an environment similar to that of Darktide.
As noted above, we plan to do this during the August prop.
